About Nothing Special

A simple way to plan, shop, and cook across the week

Nothing Special recipes and weekly plans are built around overlapping ingredients, flexible meals, and making the most of what you already have. The goal is less food waste, fewer trips to the grocery store, and more meals worth making again.

In fact, you'll notice recipes repeat around here, and that's intentional. When my family finds something we love, we make it again. Some meals show up seasonally, like grilled dinners in the summer and comfort food in the winter, while others seem to appear year-round. Pizza night is practically a weekly event at our house. Sometimes it's sheet pan pizza in the oven, sometimes it's cooked outside in our little pizza oven, and sometimes we buy it and make a salad.

The goal isn't to constantly make something new. It's to build a collection of meals worth repeating. Whether you're looking for a recipe, a weekly plan, or a little inspiration for dinner, I'm glad you're here.

About me

I'm Chesa, a self-taught home cook and mom of four.

I've spent years cooking for family, friends, holidays, weeknights, and all the days in between. The recipes you'll find here are the meals that made it into our regular rotation, even if only for a season.

The name Nothing Special comes from something I found myself saying for years. Whenever someone complimented my cooking, I'd shrug and say, "It's nothing special."

And I meant it.

Nothing Special is all about using what you have, keeping it simple, and making something delicious.
