The Perfect Hard Boiled Egg
A simple, reliable way to make perfectly cooked eggs that are just as good warm on toast as they are pulled from the fridge for an easy snack.
BreakfastBuilding blockEggs
Ingredients
- Eggs
Method
- 1Place the eggs in a large pot and cover with cool water.
- 2Bring to a full boil over high heat with the lid on.
- 3Once boiling, turn off the heat. Leave the pot on the burner if using gas, or move it to a cool burner if using electric.
- 4Keep the lid on and let sit for 8 minutes.
- 5Carefully drain the hot water, then run cold water into the pot for about 2 minutes to cool the eggs.
- 6Peel and eat warm, or store in the fridge.
Notes
- If you want a soft, jammy boiled egg on toast, pull a few early (at the 4-5 minute mark) and peel under cool, running water. Top with flaky sea salt and fresh black pepper.
- Go ahead and make a dozen.
